I have brought together a list of creative, fun and sometimes spontanious ideas that I have heard from friends and others that might give you a hint or idea of how you might share your I Love You's this Valentines.. or anytime.
1) A surprise breakfast - use a red tablecloth and spell out a love message using Alphabet Cereal... be sure to set out a bowl, spoon, and a pitcher of milk.
2) Plan a "scavenger" hunt.. for leading up to the "main" Valentine gift or "love note"... you could use little cut out heart shapes with messages jotted on each one. Put the first one in an obvious place so it can be found.. like the bathroom mirror, and have each one lead to the next location... "look for your next "love" clue in the refrigerator under the champagne bottle!".. and so on. The final clue will take them to your main I Love you.
3) If your "hubby" wears a business suit and tie to work... you can "remove" all of his regular ties from the closet, and leave just one hanging... a black with "red hot lips".. would be great... and if you want to take it a step farther, you can remove all his underwear and socks from the drawer and leave a single pair of silk boxers with "co-ordinating" red hot lips!!.. and one pair of socks to match. He'll be certain to be a conversation starter at the office.
4) How about filling your sweethearts automobile with red and white balloons. When it's time for them to head off to work (..or however you have time it) so that when the car door gets opened the balloons will catch the wind and find their way up into the sky. A subtle yet dramatic I love you. You might tie one special ballon (with a love note inside) along with a single red rose to the steering wheel.. that lets the cat out of the bag, as to who this fun surprise was from.
5) Find your favoite recipe for rice krispie (marshmallow) treat recipe, and make up a batch. (OK to add red hots or red M&M's).. While it is still warm mold it into a greased kitchen funnel (that is dome-shaped). Once molded remove and cool. Use aluminum wrap to wrap the shape in a similar fashion as a hershey's chocolate kiss. You can eveb create an I love you message on a long narrow strip and wrap it into the top, as the kisses actual do.
6) Create or find a red box with a lid (square, round or heart-shaped will do). Fill with black tissue or "krinkle" and fill with your favorite heart-shaped confections.. truffles, cookies, and candies. Tie with a black satin ribbon and tie on a note.... "this is a box full of all my sweet love and kisses for you to enjoy... they won't last long but the real thing will -- I promise"
7) Create a Date Night Box - Fill the box with a favorite liquor and appropriate petit glasses, home made dinner coupon (or gift certificate to your favorite restaurant), tea lights, candles, matches, chocolates, a CD with your favorite music to relax with, a movie with a romantic theme, popcorn, mints... add in a disposable camera to take pictures of the evening. You have created a special night in and a special night out.. to look forward to.
8) Create a Love Menu... Rub your Back... = 5 Red Hots.. Full Massage... = 10 Red Hots...Kisses... = 3 Red Hots... you can be creative and fill you menu with your own ideas. The week of Valentines you can leave little notes with Red Hots in conspicuous spots where your sweetheart will find them.. on the early notes suggest they "save up" their Red Hot candies to "trade" with later. This could be alot of fun.
9) Fill your bedroom ceiling with wall to wall red helium balloons with long curly ribbon tails. When your sweetheart walks in to room they will see a room "bursting with LOVE". You could also spread a small tablecloth or quilt on top of the bed, and have a favorite dessert or picnic meal, all ready to enjoy. An ice-filled bucket with champagne or wine would me a great "touch"
10) Plan a Destination Dinner. If getting away to Paris.. or Bermuda.. or Barcelona.. is a dream of your for you and your sweetheart, but the budget or time just isn't quite there... create your own destination meal with posters, music and props to create that special feel of what you'll expect to see in the real atmosphere. Plan the menu to include appropriate foods that you'd see on the menu. This may end up to be your most favorite "trip" ever!
ENJOY!! be creative
