Tea for Two

Our Red Hat Tea Party at Julia's

TeaRoom Table

I recently had the ooportunity to attend the most wonderful 5-course Tea Party. Sixteen of my Red Hat Sisters attended this well-dressed affair just a few days before Valentine's Day.

As we entered the Tea Room at Julia's we were greeted with a room that was filled with with the most beautiful dainty, frilly, collections of tea related treasures.. and colors of pinks and reds that filled the room. The soft background music helped to complete the scene.

Tea Place SettingAt each place setting we eat found a perfectly presented spot to enjoy our tea, including a handmade decorated heart cookie that was wrapped to take home after the event, and a handmade menu delicately typed on the back side of a vintage postcard, telling us what we had to look forward too. The menu started off with

Tea Menu

a description of the Tea's that we would be served. We started with beatiful Tea Pots filled with Yorkshire Gold Tea. It was a treat to drink from such a beautiful bone china tea cup, I just had to try the real cream from the dainty pitcher and a cube of sugar.. to get the real effect. Later we had our cups rinsed to try the Blackberry Vanilla Tea. Both were heavenly.. and I decided I do like my tea served now with cream and sugar.

Tea Pot White Grape Juice served in a goblet and water completed the beverages for the meal. While waiting for the first course, my eyes were busy traveling through the room exploring all of the decor and treasures that Julia had to share with us. I felt like a little girl placed in a wonderland filled with her favorite toys.

Petite Appetizers

Our first course was presented. Petité Appetizers where beautifully arranged fresh vegatables, olives, pickles.. radish and cherry tomatoe nestled on alfalfa sprouts encircled with green pepper were stratigically in order. I couldn't help but take a bite of the heart shape water cracker standing in a small compote of vegetable dip.

Potato Chowder and Finger SandwichesTo finsh the arrangement she also had cut pickled beet and cheddar cheese in a perfect heart shape. Next served was an array of finger sandwiches.. Cucumber, Chicken Almond, and Roast Beef on dainty cut breads. Served in a tulip rimmed glass bowl was delicious Potato Chowder. As you can see... as pretty as a "picture.."

Fresh Citrus Fruits

Lovely Fresh Citrus Fruits became our next course. Grapes, Pears, Cherries, Kiwi and Star Fruit in a very light and natural juice of the fruits. The lovely colors brightened the entire table.

Our Host Julia and her sisters just didn't skip a beat at keeping our amazement at ever next course.

SconesWe then were given an informative narrative about the proper way to eat a scone, as we were served our Raspberry Pecan and Tropical scones. Told just "how" to slice them correctly and "how" to use the Devonshire Crème and Lemon Curd to dress them. We were all becoming such refined ladies.

Tea Sweets

the finale.. the dessert. I am still not sure how she created a perfectly heart shaped Custard-Filled Crème Puff, and drizzled so beautifully in strawberry glaze. The Red Rose itty bitty cakes dressed up the plate with wonderful color. Lemon Squares and last but not least.. a Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry. Yummmy.

Thank you Julia !!! You are the Best.
